Direct Attached & Active Optical Cables
Direct attach cables are mainly used for media to support high transfer rates between servers, switches, and storage devices in a data center. These assemblies plug into the same port as the optical transceiver and create significant cost savings and power savings. Some of the more popular assemblies are the 10G SFP+ to SFP+, 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+, 40G QSFP+ to 4 X 10G SFP+, 25G SFP28 to SFP28, 100G QSFP28 to QSFP28, and 100G QSFP28 to 4 X 25G SPF28. These are offered in both copper and AOC assemblies. The direct attach cables can be coded for most equipment manufacturers, including CISCO, Brocade, Arista, Juniper, HP, and Mellanox, to name a few.
